DH Conley dominated the men's competition by placing 11 runners in the top 16 finishers to run away with the 2017 ECC XC Championship on Wednesday at Boyd Lee Park. The Vikings posted a low score of 28 points to easily outdistance 2nd place CB Aycock who had a score of 68 points. Jonathan Johnson of New Bern was the individual champion with a time 16:27.
Conley girls used their depth to overcome 1-2 individual finishes by New Bern to win the 2017 ECC Women’s XC Championship. Nicole O’Hannesion and Hana Smith of New Bern finished in the top 2 spots, but Conley countered by placing 5 girls in the top 11 to finish with the fewest points, winning the meet with a low score of 28. Alysa Mclaughlin (3rd, 20:48), Camryn Maloney (5th 21:32), Emma Jane Cole (6th, 21:34), Jennifer Perez (7th, 21:38) and Kenzie Gill (11th, 22:06) were top finishers for Conley.
